And so it begins. Four boxes and one suitcase later my “essentials” are shipped to Bahrain as a new adventure for the McMillen family commences.
This year I have the distinct pleasure of serving as the staff Public Affairs Officer for Naval Amphibious Force, Task Force 51-5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade in Manama, Bahrain.
I know, I know, I just got here. Navy Medicine East hired me despite knowing I was deploying and has supported me every step of the way. I’m thankful for my short five months with this command and look forward to returning as its PAO next January.
Next week is my final week in the office before checking out of the NOSC and heading to Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center (Norfolk), Maritime Staff Operators Course (Newport), and Amphibious Warfare Indoctrination (San Diego). My “boots on ground” (a fun military term that means when my feet/boots step into country) is mid-March.
As always, thank you for your friendship and support.
Excited for the newest part of our journey!!!
